I have some trouble finding food for my degu here in Florida. Nothing around here sells food for degus. I can't remember the brand of what I'm using right now but I believe it's a mixture of chinchilla and guinea pig. This is what I read to feed him everywhere I looked online but I don't know if it's good for him or not. I'd like to get him the best quality food out there..even if it means ordering it online. He's not a very picky eater from what I've noticed...so what in you guys' opinion is the best food for him? Either from a website or something I can find in PetCo and PetSmart. Any info about diet would be great. He's sick at the moment (taking him to vet tomorrow) and I'm starting to wonder if it's his diet.
Thanks in advance!

I'm a little unsure about the gertie guinea pig food...theres pictures of all types of fruits on the front...seems like it could be really high in sugar? Correct me if I'm wrong

The pictures are just to make it look 'pretty', lol. Gerty is a good food and a main one used for degus in the UK. I should imagine it's the same.

Hello dyzired! I wouldn't recommend changing mooses diet just yet. Even if he was in the best of health, if it isn't done gradually it can upset his tummy, and since that looks to be what might be wrong with moose already, I'd wait and see what the vet says is wrong with him first and then take it from there. A change of diet can also be quite stressful for a degu and it may just make him that little bit more poorly just at the moment.

Hey, I just wondered whether you've ever thought about ordering their food online? That's what I do for my goo's anyway. I give them the biaphar xtra vital degu food and mix it with a small amount of nuggets and then sprinkle it with some oats to give them some interest haha! www.equinecaninefeline.com/catalog/xtravital-degu-food-beaphar-p-1709.html (That's the stuff I get mine.) Does anyone recommend any other stuff? I want to know my goo's are getting everything they need. They also have constant access to hay and a few alfalfa treats which they love!!!

Heyho, I had a wee look at the shipping on this website but they don't ship overseas anymore but you could have a look through it anyway and get some ideas of all the different food things they have and you might be able to find them somewhere else online for sale. www.chinchillas2shop.co.uk. I'm going to have a wee search for other places just now so if I see anything I'll let you know, hope this helps xx

Hello again, I was just having a look and I found this website, still trying to find a list of ingredients, but it seems to be North American based so maybe you'll have some luck with them www.exoticnutrition.com/deco18lb.htmlI looked about on some of the UK websites, but I can't really find many that ship abroad. If on the odd chance you speak German, it might be a good idea to search some German sites as Degus are very popular there you might find more choice. Again I hope this helps. ;D
