Just came back from Sainsbury's and had a quick look at the Pet Section not really expecting to find anything. I found a Herbal Salad, and on the front it said it was suitable for Rabbit's, Guinea Pigs and Chinchila's. It states it was made from 19 different ingrediants. And I wonder if it was suitable for Degu's. I looked at the back were it stated it was a treat that could be given everyday but use spareingly for Chinchilla's and Degu's.
So I read through the ingrediants list and most of the stuff I knew was safe for Goo's, but there were a few ingrediants I wasn't sure about, like Coneflower and Birch leaves. I tried looking for it on the interenet so I could give you guys a full ingrediants list, but I couldn't find it. It doesn't seem to have a brand name, but its mascot is a cartoony rabbit head, they also had sundired corn as a different product.
I was wondering it anyone else had seen this or even bought it for their Degu's.

Sainsburys sell things for rodents? News to me, I thought they sold dog food, cat food and that's it... hmm...

I think I've come across a similar or pehaps the same thing recently. I'm also unsure about it. Mainly the flowers that are in it. It does say suitable for degus though and the girls who ate it before they came to live with me are fine

I was just about to write and say that birch leaves are fine for degus but thinking about it not entirely sure. Hmmm, will have to have a look when I get home. I've put together a list of food that the goos can eat from different websites, mainly this one, degutopia, and the german one. I know though that cornflowers are ok.
However I am surprised that Sainsbury's are stocking this, all I've ever seen is dog, cat, bird, and hamster stuff, with sometimes fish flakes.

I might have to go and buy a bag so I can give you guys a full list of ingrediants and maybe take a few pictures so you guys know what your looking for. I'll also note the price and how much you get for your money.

Coneflower can mean echinacea or rudbeckia, not sure if that helps though. I suppose echinacea is a fairly potent herb, so should be given sparingly.

Ok, I bought a 200g bag for £3.10.
On the front it says;
"Dandelion Salad - Small Animal Treats
Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and Chinchillas just adore this delicious mix of dandelion, beetroot, coneflower and other nutritious goodies - it's a little bowl of sunshine.
Made from 19 scrummy and 100% natural ingredients!"
On the Back;
"A complementary pet food for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and degus.
Feeding Guide: Dandelion salad is a healthy and nutritious treat that can be offered everyday, but as with all treats offer sparingly to chinchillas and degus. Ensure fresh water is available at all times.
Composition: Dandelion (25.0%), birch leaves, oat flakes, wheat flakes, beetroot (6.0%), pea flakes, parley, carrot, marigold blossoms, wheat, popped wheat, maze flakes, popped maze, alfalfa, nettle, coneflower (1.0%), ribwort, rose petals, peppermint.
Store cool and dry. For best before date and batch number see base of pack. Produced in the EU.
Establishment Registration No. 09779163H003
Walkapet Limited, Quayside, 252-260 Broad St, Birmingham B1 2HF”
*It lists parley as an ingredient, though I assume they meant parsley.
So the ingredients I’m not sure about are; birch leaves, oat flakes, nettle, coneflower, ribwort and parley.

I just checked my bag of JR Farm herbs and that has nettle, ribwort and parsley in, so they are all OK. Oat flakes are fine too, they just mean oats.

In that thread they list "Parley stems" as being safe ... So perhaps the did mean parley? O.o
