My degu joe always burys his food into the shavings and he went to the top of the cage and tried to bury a piece of food into the lino... was so funny, he was pushing air onto it HAHA

It's so funny to watch them do that - they look so cute when they are covering the food up! Ours try burying it in the carpet when they are out! Have to stop them digging a hole through it hehe!

Ah bless him. My gooeys like to try and 'bury' their food in very strange places too. When we've had them out in the kitchen they've tried to bury it in the lino. And just this morning I caught Nige burying his food in the middle of his flying saucer wheel (as there were a few bits of finacard on it) and he also decided that the hay rack was a fab place to bury some too.
I think the best bit, like you say, is the way they frantically cover it over with thin air, so cute!
Such funny little habits, bless their little cottons hey?!

My favourite bit when they bury stuff is the last little pat down that they do - all self satisfied that they've done a perfect job :-)

Mine have taken to burying full monkey nuts on wooden floorboards! I love when they do the last pat and then check behind them to make nobody else has noticed
