What should I be feeding my nursing degu. Her pups were born a day and a half ago and I've just been feeding her and her sisters (and separated brother) their regular degu food, hay, a wee bit more veg (sweet potatoes, peas, cucumbers), and the odd sunflower/pumpkin seeds. Is this okay?

Yeah, it's OK. If you could pick up some millet seeds, grass seeds (untreated), and oats, these will give her some extra calories that will help her with the task of providing for the pups.

Just bought oats and I have alot of millet at home (I have four budgies). Thanks. (PS: Counted the babies: there are six of them. I have just ordered another Midwest Critter Nation double cage from Flowertown Chinchillas in Brampton. Want to keep them all, if at all possible.)

My nursing mums got an occasional dried mealworm too and they went nuts for them.

Dried mealworm...I'll see if I can get these here. That would be packed with protein.
Thanks.
