Hello, may I introduce my Chilean plants? My first plants were the puyas (Puya berteroniana), here several weeks old: Here are some pictures after germination: A porlier shrub (Porlieria chilensis): Quilo (Muehlenbeckia hastulata), a climbing plant: Here some more actual photos: Quilo: Porlier shrub: and puya Quilo and porlier shrub are growing well, in contrast the puyas got to much water and around 50% died. Actually it is better, but they grow hardly. I have the impression, that they need 25 °C and more for best growth, otherwise growing rate is scarce.

Very interesting David ! Do you know if some of these plants are eaten by the degus living in the Chilean steppes. ?

Yes. Porlieria chilensis is important food in northern Chile (Fray Jorge Nationalpark), and Puya is eaten by degus in Auco near the National Chinchilla Reserve. And Quilo... I'm not shure. I think it was used in feeding trials in the lab, but in wild? I don't know. Even my degus ignored the plant, but I tried it only once.
