Hi everyone, So my cage extension is all done I just need to fill some of the empty space! I've seen some pictures of cages with thick looking rope for the degu's to climb and I think it would be a good addition to my cage as it is quite tall and I don't want my goos to fall. I know you can get sissal rope from ebay and chinchillas2shop (I LOVE this website!) but its too thin for climbing rope, has anyone come across anywhere where I can get thick degu safe rope? Thanks guys

You can get some thick stuff in the parrot section of P@H but it's pricey. You also need to make sure the ends will attach to the type of cage you have. Back when I got some for my old mesh cage we had to get a small hand saw and cut a slit in it so it'd attach to our square mesh.
I'd personally get lots of B&Q sisal rope and weave it together with plaiting - it'd probably be cheaper considering when I got some it was 70p per meter and I think the parrot rope was at least £15+ for me (pre-VAT increase as it was 2 years ago.)

Thanks for that link it looks really useful, they also do a thicker manilla rope which I know is used for a lot of parrot toys. I think that plaiting would be good because I really want the rope to be thick enough so they can comfortably move on it, I might go and check out B&Q. I was thinking about using cable ties luckily they haven't worked out that they can chew these yet ;D
