What sort of age should I expect the babies to know how to dust bath?
One of them was in the dust bath today and sort of looked like it knew it should be doing something but wasn't sure what. They're (I think) almost 2 weeks old now.

As sociable creatures, degus often learn from their peers. Watching their mother or another adult degu take a sandbath, is one way the pups will learn.

Thanks - the bath is in there 24/7 so hopefully they'll soon learn.

Mine only started properly dustbathing a couple of weeks ago, as soon as they were big enough to climb into the bath they would sniff at the dust and sort of "scoot" along in it, but they roll in it now and have a really good clean! I wouldn't really recommend leaving the dustbath in 24/7 because it will take up floor space and you will have to keep topping up the sand and taking out the poos (they will use it as a toilet). When you only put it in for a short while, they tend to go for it straight away and have a good clean, and then as soon as they've finished rolling, take it back out again, their fur will be nice and clean and it will save you a fortune in dust.
