Hi! My degu-sitter E-mailed me that Remple has been getting a bit more aggresive and bigger. She told me she was looking almost sick, but was still active. I told her to look more on the internet, and she found some signs of pregnancy. Now, that doesn't mean she is, but I don't know. Her phone isn't working, so she can't send me and photo . I'm pretty sure nothing will happen (or will have to happen) before I come home. Hopefully.

Hiya, from what i've read about pregnant degus is that they're very good at giving birth on their own and looking after the pups. In fact one of the forum members didn't even realise that she had a pregnant degu until she went to clean the cage and out came some pups!
Best thing to do is to ask your degu-sitter to keep an eye on her, and to take her to the vet if she appears listless, not moving, etc.

How long have you had your degus? Do you know the definite gender of all 3 of them? A female degu is very fertile after giving birth and if she does have pups your degus may need to be separated if you haven't sexed them yourself to ensure pregnancy doesn't occur again.
The other females usually also help look after the pups (it is rare that they will harm the pups though I have read of a few cases). Degus are quite good at taking care of their babies as malteser said so if she did give birth whilst you were away my only comment would be to ensure that the babysitter makes sure there's plenty of materials for the nest so that they have a snuggly warm place.
How long are you away? Degus only show signs of pregnancy late into the gestation period. My memory is a bit fuzzy (and I have only males!) but it's usually only a week or two before they give birth that they begin to show signs such as mood swings, nesting habits and teets. Someone else can clarify more if need be who have been through it themselves.

Taco and Smudge are definatly boys... And I'm sure Remple is a girl. We just checked her about a month ago. I've had them all together for about 2 and a half months... I've had Remple for about 2 and a half years and Taco and Smudge came about 2 and a half months, and I'm coming back in about a week
