My second one has now also taken up cage chewing and they really scream at each other for access to that spot; they also scream when I move my finger up and down there on the outside It's not something I hear them do at any other time and it does not resemble anything on the degutopia sound page. Like in your case I am sure it has nothing to do with boredom or stress, so at least there in no reason to feel bad about it. What has helped in my case (I would say chewing has been reduced by at least 50%) is to completely ignore them so that there is no additional reward (attention) for this “idiotic” behaviour. Otherwise there's always earplugs and Valium (not for the goos, obviously)

Still no resolve to this. The pinging is absolutely infuriating first thing in the morning. My cage has 2 sides of horizonal bars and 2 sides of vertical bars. I think i need a cage with bars going both ways on all sides. That will atleast help to limit the noise if nothing else. New cage incoming on my next student loan i think. Along with a lovely chinchilla .

"Hmmmm. Tasty bars . . . . " My lads do that too and they get out regularly as well. I worried it was obsessive behaviour for a while as they'd do this spinny thing where they would methodically bite around one square of mesh without letting go, meaning as they flipped over they vaguley resembled something from The Exorcist. Nando does exactly this! I thought it was odd but now I;m not so worried.
