Hallo, i'd just wait a bit more for her to give birth. I see u posted first 3 weeks ago about her weight. I have pregnant girl ( due any day now) and first noticed the weight gain over 4-5 weeks ago. She's taking her time, isn't she? Also i heard they start showing nipples about week before giving birth, maybe u can check for that? It's kind of more on the sides than middle tummy.

Forgive me if I am wrong but I've looked at the photo with the degu on a shelf and do you have her in a pets at home small gerbilarium? If so I would advise you to up grade that as soon at possable.

At this rate i'm beginning to think she isn't preganant, since it's been such a long time now since she gained the weight. Either that or she is keeping you waiting a long time

No little pups. The cage is not a small gerbilarium, it is a standard sized one. I would like to get Stripe a bigger and better cage but it just isn't possible to upgrade at the moment. And, I do often let Stripe out, either in a ball or on my arms. She has a wheel in her cage so that she can run in it. Please don't give me tonnes of criticism. I want to look after my degus well and it's the best that I can do at the moment.

Well, if it is obesity, rather than pregnancy, then you can reduce the hard feed amount. Degutopia recommends 10g per degu per day, and I've seen 8 or 9g a day recommended for a diet. I know the 10g seems a bit unnerving becuase the packets usually say about 25g, but it's much healthier for them to eat less hard food than that and to make up the rest with hay.

Okay, thank you. I will see how she goes on 10g per day.
