Cheers all.
It's 4 floors that are 22" by 34". The bottom two levels are 15" and 9" high (bedroom level) and the top two are 12" high.
It's also got a 2' high storage area below the caged area. Don't ask me for the metric measurements. lol

After a weekend of constructing and playing with power tools the girls have now moved into the completed cage. They now have seven shelves (three that are nearly complete levels), hammocks, rope bridges, climbing branches and wheels. They are loving the new cage and all the extra space...... and Im loving the fact I can now watch them playing and interact with them properly again. Attachments:

Welcome to the forum, Apology72!! It is wonderful to have you join, and please, don't worry about your English. I personally enjoy reading writing that has an accent . . . if that makes sense. WOW!!! You cage is AMAZING!!! I love it!! I really love the hay section that you have contained behind a wall . . . what a cool idea! Do your degus hide in there, burrowing around? Have you ever looked in your cage and panicked because you couldn't find any degus?

Ah well, I guess it's time for me to show off our cage. It's not as awesome as some of the others here, but we're happy with the first attempt. This was taken right after we finished construction: Measurements are: 1,1m - 1,5m width, 45cm - 75 cm depth and 2m height. We had to accomodate a corner in the wall and a switch box. The boys in the small playground / cage footage. The boys in the big playground / moar cage footage. Sorry bout the crummy quality. My phone doesn't like indoor pictures. Oh, and here's a few pics of construction:

Those cages are brilliant. Such great sizes. I have also made one of these running plates but have it only for playtime.
Maravilla - What do you have on it to stop chewing? Also where do you get the terricotta tunnels from? They are really good.

Maravilla - What do you have on it to stop chewing? Hello Kat, chewing on what? The cage itself? Actually, we don't have a big problem with it. In the smaller one, they did it a couple of times on the posts, but it would take them ages to chew them through. If they really tried, we would protect them. But even without protection, there is now way to escape the cage!! Then they chew sometimes on the long slats which are fixed on the levels. These we can change easily and actually they are made to chew them! They also chew on the decoration. So what? It is made to chew on it and we can build new things if necessary. The only thing protected from chewing are the holes in the levels.

@ Maravilla I think Kat means the runnings plate with the aluminium trims

Ups Have to admit that I missed out the first part of the question... Well, two of the plates are not protected, but these degus don't chew very much on them. The third plate, the one shown in the first cage, we had to protect because our nice, lovely, little friends reduced it from 45 cm to 38 cm... My husband just took a band of aluminium and screwed it around the plate.

Thank you for your reply Maravilla. I think that I will do the same on my saucer. Kat, please let us know when you find some. I have been looking for terracotta pipes for ages. I have found some of these tunnels, at what I think is the best price each. £6.59 + £1.95 p&p There may be better deals elseware for ordering a set. They are from a website called wineware.co.ukI ordered 1 of these yesterday. I will post again about the service and speed of delivery when it has arrived. Kat x SCRATCH THIS - I got my delivery this morning and it is sealed at one end. grr. I am debating wether to cut it or send it back.

Did anyone made a fabric warm hut, something in between hammock and kitty bed, all closed up with one hole to entrance? I have great fabric (d**n, it was expensive, I don't want to ruin it by trying), cotton filling for the pillow and a lot of will, but I don't know where to start. I'd like to make one that can be hand washed and stable. Crazy goos pee and poo where they sleep, little messy things. Is this any good? RAT CUBE TUTORIALIt looks quite easy when set out like this....ish Kat x

Thank you, Kat! I was looking for something similar. Will try to do one with other fabric first to see how it will turn of.
