Extremely lucky goos, what a fortress to navigate! Spidey will be in his element Spidey has to be content with pulling faces through the perspex side of the burrow. This is for the pups!

Hello! Here is a tour of our cage. It is two extra large Blenheim cages bolted together and measure approximately 140cm x 160cm. The girls absolutely love it and have so much room to play. Full image of the cage, it is 6 floors. The shelving is plastic but we will be replacing it when required. We have lined the bottom plastic tray with chicken wire and tiles. They love foraging in the hanging basket. They have a pets at home wheel and the little house is used as a step up so they can interact with us above the Perspex. We made a “fort” of willow sticks which is full of hay for them to forage in. The hammock isn’t used much as it is too small for them, but we still hide treats in there for them to find. It is entertaining watching them climb in and out of the bucket, and for some reason they took a real liking to the Selfridges bag, so I just left it in there and they climb in and out. They seem to love anything which makes crinkly noises such as paper bags. Their nesting box was purchased from Andy in Shropshire off Ebay, so pleased with it. We added an extra shelf to create a veranda and added a ladder for easier access. The 6th floor is made entirely of willow sticks and is basically just an obstacle course for them to run on and chew. We bought an extendable small animal tube to create more running space along this level. The middle part of the cage is basically just a massive forage section of tubes and hay.

Looks great You only get an idea of the size when you properly notice the scale of the 12" wheel and Ikea running saucer!

Yes it is big.... Our friends and family think we are completely mad! It's makes a lovely feature though, I find it very difficult watching the TV with this right next door to it!

It is such a large cage, but more than that, it feels like the space is used well and has a wide variety.

The ropes are dog toys. Any pet store will carry them, they're available online, and (at least over here in the USA) they can be found in any store with pet sections--big grocery stores, the big department and discount stores like Walmart and whatever else you have.
I would suggest you make sure you get cotton ropes, not synthetic ones. Even my dog doesn't like the synthetic rope we got him, and he loves to play with and chew everything up. With degus, I would worry about them eating the synthetic fibers if they chewed, whereas cotton is a natural fiber.

The big ropes can be found in The Range in the UK.

I've never seen a john hopewell cage kitted up and goos living in one yet. Can you post some pics of your boys in the cage with how you have it set up Erin? I'd love to see 🤗

I'd love to see how you've added three full levels in to try and make it more suitable for three degus! It's a small cage so I'm sure you've mastered utilising the space well lol! I'm not brilliant at DIY, so I'd imagine trying to do it myself would be something of a nightmare! We built an extension for one of our degu cages, to add an additional 2 full levels to the 3 full levels they already had for our two sisters, that was a NIGHTMARE and that was working with a big space! The amount of cuts I got was crazy lol! Do not trust me to do DIY, I'll end up in A&E 😂!

They are not full levels but pets at home sell big blocks that you can screw on to the side of the cage. They also get smaller perches (a bit like but not what parrots get). My family are hopeless at DIY and although we all love them- except from my mum lol- they live in the study and we don't have the space to do a DIY cage . We are possibly thinking of adding our old cage too it but we think that so long as we give them lots to do and let them play with us lots everyday then they are certainly fine for now. Anyway, the cage seems like luxury to them as the cage they were given to us in (for free when we adopted them) was only just big enough for two goos!
