this is a really good site for sexing degus: www.angelfire.com/on4/degumania/degu_gender.htmlonce you get a really good up-close look at your degu's bits, it's easy to tell the difference between male and female using these pics. mine are most definitely both males.

Thanks Meg, I have needed a fair bit of advice on the girls, and this forum has proved most valuable. I was just at the Vancouver (Canada) pet show yesterday, and there was nothing for small anaimals (other than the rabbit rescue society) The girls and I thnk you, and evryone for this website. Cheerio!

Dear SUNSHINEMEG and other Moderators,
Since becoming a degu owner at the beginning of September, I was as you would expect very nervous of each little noise and behaviour my guys did, incase it meant something was wrong. This forum has been a life saver for me, it is easy to search and navigate [and within a day I had read pretty much all previous posts] and its full of fantastic information and advice from the people that know - other Degu owners. I think this forum is brilliant, and me, Sam and Max would like to thank you very much for creating this.
Thanks.

This forum is absolutely GREAT.I am not even an owner yet (almost) and I already feel part of this Forum. Also have been receiving good and concerning advice from a lady in Canada. My unfortunate spate of boredom seems to be coming to an end. Many,Many Thanks.

Hi Meg, I just want to say Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for creating such a BRILLIANT website. I was despairing until I found your site, but now thanks to you, my lonely little degu has found a new Wonderful loving home. After I lost my other degu tragically (due to my stupidity, alas just a few short weeks after I had inherited them from my son, who could no longer look after them, I felt really really terrible, to say the least, both for the one who escaped, Soshee, and for Manee the one left behind, and of course for my son who had trusted me. I tried looking for help and advice in pet shops, rescue centres, vets, RSPCA etc, and basically learnt nothing except that it wasn't possible to bring my degu together with an other degu and I might as well stop worrying and just get used to him and he would be ok. It wasn't until I found your website and degutopia.co.uk that I began to build hope. Today he was picked up by a Wonderful person who contacted me through your website, and I know he is going to be well looked after. I am just SOOOOO Grateful. Thank you, Josey P.S. I'm wondering if it would be an idea to leave cards or flyers in all the surrounding vets, rescue centres, pet shops etc with your details should they ever find people needing help and/or advice. I would be happy to help by giving them your details.
