Either cage is pretty good. Both have the drawback of being bar cages so they're awkward to clean and they kick bedding everywhere. Have you considered making a cage? Even with no real DIY experience can it be done in the degu cages area there is information and I am sure a lot of it can be applied to a chinchilla.

Both cages seem rather decent. If you are on a tight budget, but still want to give a big home to your chins, you should consider building a cage. As emz said, there is a topic in the degu cage and accessories section that goes into depth about building degu cages. Since degus and chinchillas require fairly similar sized cages, the matter of building a degu cage also applies to chinchillas. If you are interested, please check out this topic. deguworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Cage&action=display&thread=5734

Thanks for the advice.. I will consider it =) I saw a Chinchilla cage in a pet shop, it has 3 levels and only 59.99 pounds. Im not sure the exact height but i will get a picture when I go back to the shop next time.

I have two of the john hopewell ones. They are good for one chinchilla but I'd defiantly look into making one if it's for two. The JH ones are really easy to clean...we have a one with a 4" tray because it makes it even more easy!!! You may be able to get a good second hand one if you look hard enough. x

I would recomend the John Hopewell Cage. I also was going to either get either them 2 exact cages you have just posted, but i made my mind and i chosed the John Hopewell cage, they are brilliant. They are made out metal and wood so they will last a lifetime for our friends. The other cage on the other hand does not have alot of ledges, so i would recomend if you were to get that cage that you added some in, so your chins had more room. I saw on a Auction Site that some people were selling JH cages for very low prices, i will keep an eye out and tell you if anymore come onto auction
