Hi my Chinchilla Buck got a respiratory infection and he was coughing and wouldn't eat. He had a small amount of ocular discharge. I've been feeding him critical care and a small amount of baby food green beans(he likes the taste. The vet prescribed me chlorpalm and hes been on that for 4 weeks, and during that time he was prescribed Orbax a stronger med and he was on that for 12 days then(started eating a little and seemed a little better) 10 days, hes now been given it for another 10 days, but he started to get liquid diarrhea. I called the vet but its sunday so they wont get back to me till tomorrw. Its been like a moth and ive never had a respiratory illness last this long. Any suggestions?

Respiratory illness in chins can be fatal so it is important that you keep him warm .It is also vital to keep him eating whilst the antibiotics are getting a chance to work to keep his gut working until he feels like eating himself again, plenty of fluidsand , alongside the antibiotics yu need probiotics in water( to promote good bacteria) and metacam It will be a long haul with lots of tlc and nursing needed but I hope he makes a full recovery. Please let us know how he goes on
