hey im on this site quite a lot looking up about degus and to be honest i dont really know anything about chinchillas. we have just moved to lincoln and went to a petshop called pets cabin on newark road on our way to a garden centre just to have a look about - see about cheap degu food etc and talk about overcrowded! ive never seen so many birds etc cramed into cages in such a confined area! anyway to the point - he had rabbit cages stacked one on top of the other, full of sawdust and cardboard tubes, with very miserable looking chinchillas laid out in the cardboard tubes. i mean rabbit cages as in plastic bottom and not much else like pets at home sell but completely boring for chins! i just thought they werent supposed to be in sawdust as all chin cages are wire mesh but i wanted to check as i dont know much about them really. they just looked so miserable! if anyone lives in lincoln and fancies a look its pets cabin at 142 newark road - right next to the chippie! i tell you in advance though keep your arms by your sides as you'll definitely knock into something its so crowded and cluttered! if this is bad for them il get onto the rspca about it but i wanted some professional advice first. Thanks for reading, Gem
