We have a female Chinchilla about 5-6 months old who has a slight respiratory infection. She went to the vet yesterday and has started on antibiotics. The problem is, she is not eating or drinking. We are just trying to get her to take a few drops of boiled water, but can anyone suggest anything else, as we are careful of what we give them as food, as they are not allowed any sugar! Anyone?

If you still have a problem with feeding (I hope not) I would suggest maybe like something I did once with one of my guinea pigs a couple of years ago. She somehow got her hands on a christmas tree pine needle so ate it and got sick. The vet gave her medicine but she refused to eat and would only drink water. So twice a day we'd sryinge feed her vegetable flavored baby foods. Not sure if this is ok to do with a chinchilla as I bet they're much more difficult to hold still but it's just an idea. I hope she's alright.
