I'm sure shes fine, it'll get there in the end.
I think it is probably the best idea to let them get used to the of a third degu next to them. Some introductions go smoothly but others take more time, its all down to individual differences. Its good that your rubbing sand on Lille Blaa btw help her clean those spots that she can't reach. I do that to my gerbils twitch and tweak, mainly because they don't know how to use a sand bath, but they love it.

I have now had Lille Blaa and Fia together in the kitchen for a week and they still haven't figured out who gets to be the boss. Turns out Lille Blaa is a real fighter.... But Josefine is still squeaking and chewing the bars, she has not calmed down at all and it's been almost a month now. Is there still any hope or should I just go get another goo for Lille Blaa. Boyfriend said it was ok, but I'll have to split the big cage in two cause we haven't really got room for two cages in our livingroom:(

I'm so sorry things aren't working out for you.
I guess it would all depend on Lille Blaa...is being alone affecting her because if its not then you could possibly keep trying, if it is then I'd look to get another goo and preferably a pup... would the cage be a big enough area if it were split in 2?

The cage is 34x22x50" so it's not ideal. Being alone don't seem to bother her too much. She gets to meet Fia every day, but I think Fia is more eager to get to know Lille Blaa than the other way around...

she might be one of those goos that prefer their own company, in which case it'll be a very bad idea to get another degu... the only way to test this would be to keep her on her own without any contact for a few days and see how she gets on?

I'm just about to give up. Just had them out together and Lille Blaa seemed terrified when Fia tried to approach her...she squeaked, jumped, Fia got scared and it was all chaos:(
Maybe I'll try keeping her on her for a while and see what happens, maybe she'll realise that it's ok to be submissive if that means she'll have friends.
Should I move the cages into different rooms aswell?
And what are the signs of a depressed degu?

sleeping lots, not very active when awake, perhaps even off her food... I think you can tell just by a general change in behaviour.
As for moving cages into different rooms. Maybe not. The longer shes there the better for Josefine to get used to the idea. I'm not too sure though, hopefully someone else will know.

i think i have come to the conclusion that my little stew wants to be on his own. after lots of introductions, etc and lots of fighting. i think he is happy on his own.
he is anything but depressed, perhaphs its because he can hear all the others, not sure.

I've done a lot of thinking and I'm going to keep trying for a while longer. And if it doesn't work out I think I might have to rehome Josefine and Fia and find a new pup for Lille Blaa. Think it will be easier to rehome a pair og degus than a lonley one. I don't want to have to split my big cage in two, the reason I bought it in the first place is that when I start working in July I'm going to be away one or two days a week so I wanted them to have some space to run around in in their cage.
Awww, sitting with the computer in my lap and Lille Blaa just crawled under it and fell asleep:D

I sat on the bathroom floor (tiles) for two and a half hour with her sleaping in my lap!! Maybe a little spoiled?
Went to the pet shop today and they have a little girl, 8 weeks old that I'm thinking of buying as a friend for Lille Blaa. My only worry is if Lille Blaa won't accept her, then I'll have two lonely degus plus the old pair....

I don't mean to but a bad twist on anything but she could be sleeping on you as your her replacment degu friend and that might mean she's lonely... but I'm not saying I'm 100% sure that is the case, its just a possibility/

I'm so sorry that things didn't work out... if you can't have two cages theres nothing that you could have done so don't beat yourself up about it or anything.

My boyfriend came home to take me and Lille Blaa down to the shop with tears in his eyes. In the end he didn't want to give her up either...we went to the shop and bought the baby degu and now the livingroom is full of degus:D Josefine and Fia is living on top of Lille Blaa now and they can have their fights through one set of bars, so maybe if I'm lucky they'll all be friends in the end. But I'm not counting on it.
If the new one and Lille Blaa doesn't work out I'll try the new one with Josefine and Fia. And if that doesn't work out either we have to do the rehoming thing.... Keeping fingers and toes crossed.
Thank you so much for good advice and support the last month!!
