Well, I don't think the eye is getting worse, but it also isn't improving. I think part of the problem is that it looks fairly dry. Silly me forgot that I have lubricant eye drops from the vet. I used those this morning, hoping that helps.
Evening edit: Well, I added a new picture from today (3/26). The eye is not nearly that red in person, it's more of a pale pink. I don't know if that more visible layer is the scratch healing? Or getting worse. I'll be taking him in tomorrow morning either way.

So he does have a little bit of an ulcer, unfortunately. It's not too bad, but I'm glad I have enough time to get eye drops in him before I leave.
Vet did say that the dryness probably contributed to ulcer formation and that they can wax and wane.

Yep, glad to have the proper meds now!
He and his brother have both dropped a bit of weight. I think its a bit stressful have my mom here. I'm hoping they settle soon.

Well, I should have asked how to tell if the ulcer is healing. I've uploaded a picture from this evening.
His eye is maybe a bit more moist? And maybe slightly less red? I'm a bit concerned that his eye is still fairly dry.
I leave tomorrow afternoon, unfortunately. My mom can try to give some eye drops, but I don't know how successful she'll be. Maybe she can call the vet on Monday or send a picture and see what they think. It still doesn't seem to be bothering him, but again, the dryness worries me.
Also. Of course he and Pickett have decided that today is an excellent day to start boxing.

So I chatted with the vet last Friday and she said that Picketts eye looked reasonable for the treatment stage he was in. I've added some more photos to the album. I think it looks like the ulcer is healing? The eye is fairly red/pink, but I'm wondering if that's neo-vascularization. The eye is still dry, though. I'll send an update to the vet on Monday to see what she thinks. Kicking myself for not going in earlier, but it didn't look nearly as bad at the time. photos.app.goo.gl/SuFMRfu681D5yYzJ7l

It looks really red, looks like quite a bit of blood somewhere somehow in there, but as long as the vet is happy, that's OK. I don't really know anything about eyes.

Yeah, it's not quite as red as it appears in the picture, but it's pretty red! I haven't had a chance to update the vet yet, so it's been just over a week since she saw a picture. The eye was pink/reddish then, but not to this extent. However, the eye does seem to have less topography now.
I don't know anything either, unfortunately! They didn't really give me things to watch for and I forgot to ask in person. I'll send another email tomorrow morning to see what they think.
My sitter does have quite a bit of experience with eyes and she didn't seem too concerned? She mentioned that eyes always look worse as they start to heal.

Hmmm. I just added an additional photo to the album above. It's of Pickett in 2021, when he first had the cataract slip and the internal eye bleed. This is probably a complete reach, but other than the Newts dry eye, they look kinda similar to me. Newt has had the cataract in his right eye slip and cause bleeding several times of the past few years. His eye has been under a lot of stress with everything going on.
Or it could be granulation? Though I'm not sure if that would color the entire eye red.

I think you'll need to speak to your vet again.......

I think Newt's eye looks a lot like Pickett's eye.

Just spoke to the vet over the phone. She's concerned about the redness and dryness. The gel lubricant drops I've been using kind of just roll off, so she said I can switch to human artificial tear drops.
She said we can give it a few days, see if that helps. She did ask if his eye looked like it was an internal bleed (like Picketts), but its hard to tell with the dryness.

Newt's eye is looking much better. Still red, but the blood is clearly draining. I might buy the stain (fluorescin) and a blue light off Amazon to see if the ulcer had healed.
Though I'll most likely schedule a vet visit for the remaining four soon. Pickett has lost some weight, as has Pads. I'd like to see if Prongs has arthritis too.

I must admit, Newt's most recent eye photo freaked me out a bit! I'm glad the colour is draining and looking more normal now, though!

It's definitely red! I don't know how much vision he has, but he can see shadows. As soon as my hand/eye dropper block the light he's trying to get away!
