Hi everyone, Sorry to bother you, but I'm not sure if I should be worried about this. I realized this afternoon that my degu has an eye half closed. As I'm writing, it's night and I took some pictures. I was hoping to get some opinions on how worried I should be.
I have seen her open both eyes wide, so I let it sit for a bit. (As in I waited until now) So I'm wondering if I should be worried and if I need to do something.

Its not weeping so its difficult to say. She could be a bit sleepy (some degus sleep with one eye open,) or she could have something in it, or she could be in a bit of pain.
I'd monitor her and make sure she's behaving normally in every other respect; eating, drinking, peeing, pooing etc.

If this hasn't resolved yet, I would take the sandbath out and see how it is in the morning. You could tomorrow try bathing with cooled boiled water, don't rub the eye just very gently touch the eye area with a soaked cotton wool ball, or take to the vet.

She definitely isn't sleepy since her eye remains half open. I took out the sand bath and stopped the terrarium forage area (hemp litter could also have touched her eye, I assume).
I tried washing the eye, but she is very reluctant. I tried baiting her with treats, but since it's the same degu I washed her tail before... She is verrrry vocal about me getting too close with the water.
I think I'll wait one or two days more. If it doesn't get better, I'll call the vet. She acts like usual from my point of view, aside her being slightly LESS balanced in her jumps. (I'm assuming she is going around with one eye)

Looks like it might be a bit irritated by something, like getting a bit of dust or sand grit or whatever in there. I've sometimes had similar situations where a degu is squinting one eye, but those seem to resolve themselves in a few days. I'd also advise to monitor and make sure that it's not getting worse. It if persists or starts looking worse at all, then it's best to go to the vet.

Warning sign to get to the vet is if you see any swelling in the area, comparing the squinty eye with the good eye.

So, tonight, I had a good look at it and my bf concurr with my diagnosis: Her eye seems to have something in it. Probably a sand bathing gone wrong.
We two teamed eye bathing. We hope it solve itself in the weekend. Otherwise, I will schedule a vet appointment.

Just to keep you guys updated.
After a double teaming of eye bathing (where my boyfriend taught me to DON'T DO ONE DROP, SPLASH HER EYE SO IT CAN GET IN), her eye looks a lot more opened today. There doesn't seem to have any swelling so we might bath her eye tonight again if we feel it's necessary. I will reopen the forage and the sand bath if everything is ok tomorrow.

I don’t really know where to post but yesterday I noticed my Degu had this brown gunk on the side of his eye I took a Q-tip and wipe it away. It came off kind of orange. He hasn’t really been drinking any water either or running on his wheel and then this morning, the gunk was back

That sounds like it could just be eye crud of some type, which might mean his eye is irritated if it keeps appearing. What is the consistency like, is it more like a blob or liquid etc? Does it look like he's squinting the eye or pawing at it or anything like that?

I'm concerned the brown colour is blood. Also if he is not drinking normally or behaving normally, then I think you should take him to a vet. Make sure the vet checkup includes checking all his teeth.
