Also. Just picked Tom up to check on his sutures. One is already gone. The skin looks pink and healthy. There is a bump where the stitch was, not sure if it wasn't a perfect approximation or if that developed due to irritation.
It has been ten days though. Which seems like a reasonable time frame based on a quick Google search (totally dependent on type of suture used, but I didn't ask the vet for that info).

I am not sure what to say . . . I guess you could put it in for a "quick visit" and see how things go?

Stitches normally dissolve in 7-10 days (although I tend to lose them within 48hrs), so I wouldn't worry to be losing them now. Pinkness is a combination of new skin and friction, and should calm down soon.

Vet just called with pathology results--not cancer! Turns out it was a sperm granuloma, which is the first time she'd heard of it in degus!!

Some of the really big branches of the large chain pharmacies may carry a small amount of veterinary stuff, but on the whole the expectation is veterinary medicine goes through a veterinary surgery, and the uncontrolled stuff (flea meds, stuff like that) comes from pet stores. If you tell a pharmacist in the UK you’re buying a human medicine for a pet, they’re legally obligated to refuse supply if the product is only licensed by the regulator for sale for human use. I’ve never tried this with GSL (general sales list - mostly unrestricted meds that don’t have to be sold under pharmacist supervision) in a supermarket, so while the same rules should apply I’m pretty sure no one would ever ask or care.

Woohoo! great news I would try the wheel for an hour or two, unless it's a nightmare to put in and out.

Excellent news! And another one for the degus text book. Are we adding that to volume 31 or 35?

35 and cross reference it backwards, that'll confuse 'em! Lol.

I almost said they could put it in a paper if they wanted, haha!
Q is the happiest goo in the world atm! I put the wheel back in 10 minutes ago and he's been running almost the whole time. I'm probably going to need to take it out soon though since Tom keeps jumping on too.

They do say exercise is good for mental health! Seriously, it's probably doing them both good, and it's been more than 10 days, so they'll both be fine. If Tom over does things, he'll know soon enough because it'll be physical discomfort. I'd just let them be happy
