I had a mixed seed bag from b&q last year, and nothing came of them - not a single one came up. I've only planted a fraction of these new tortoise ones, and the trough is lush with growth! Ignore the solitary potato and odd bits of spinach....

Just put my car in the garage and noticed a bit of bindweed. One of the flowers dropped off whilst I was carrying it over, so I gave it to my chief taster. Spud is jealously looking on as Sausage scoffs!

Is it called bindweed because of how it twines around itself? It looks STRONG!!

Yeah, it twists around everything. I leave some patches because I can't quite work out what else is tangled in there.

It looks quite formidable! Is it what grows on some buildings . . . turns a beautiful red and burgundy in the autumn?

I think you might mean Virginia creeper? In which case that's a different family I think. My girls used to like bindweed but I never found a good place for it close to home. The trough looks great Yes, I tried a regular wild flower mix in the garden and only oxeye daisies and yarrow came up and I've been battling the yarrow ever since. I did get some special seed mixes from Shelled Warriors for goo fodder and only had limited success with those too. I blame it on the climate or climate change or something!

Could be that! I mean I'm also a pretty shoddy gardener lol! It's OK to just water things when you remember isn't it?

I don't know - I'm lucky I planted mine when it was raining! I've been nagging my elderly neighbour to become more active, taking him for walks etc. Whilst I was away, he watered my troughs every day, on the understanding that he could use my watering can and water from my butt to water his garden too. He hasn't stopped, even though I'm back!

Mum has brought over some silver birch and fruit tree prunings from her garden, a load of roses, and her friends have delivered their willow prunings! Some knotweed has also randomly appeared outside.
Sausage and Spud have taste tested everything to date!
I'm not sure how balanced this will be when I mix it all together, though.
Edit - I've also got a couple of large bunches of lavender!

Today's haul - a little more lavender, and.... fleabane And a bunch of flowers! I got some woven sacks yesterday (didn't want plastic in case residual moisture causes mould), so I can start dividing up the different varieties into mix bags. I'm not sure how balanced it'll be. I need to get some nettles drying this week, though.

Great!
We don't get fleabane up here so I never tried that with mine.

It's on the unproblematic list, and there's at least one who tried to get a nibble whilst it was drying. There was a horse stables across the road in Bath with loads of it, but it's the first time I've seen it here.
What I thought was knotweed isn't. However, each goo has had a munch with no side effects, so I'll add mystery weed into the mix!

Lol have you got a photo of it?
Mine used to like knotweed, although it usually grows in scrappy edge of road places so it tends to be a bit grubby and not usually in any quantity. edit....just realised I mean knotgrass not knotweed, so just ignore me.
