Savvy's ladies have been back in captivity for a bit now. Houdini Sphene has been working off her frustration in the wheel, but is still in close discussions with Ruby. Once thought to be at large, Amber is actually in training for a ninja operation. Meanwhile, Reggie has agreed to stay put, provided she continues to receive payment.

Today I moved their cages closer together - big mistake, lol. I've heard nothing but clanging of bars as they try to get to each other and it didn't sound overly friendly so I've moved them apart again.
Other than that, they seem quite happy.

I think one of them may be on heat as well which won't be helping, lol. They settled down quite nicely once the cages were apart again.
Tonight the temperature has dropped, forecast to be -1 overnight so they've gradually all been heading to the pile of hay at the top of the cage. Its been quite funny watching one sleepy degu slowly making her way to the top of the cage, then 10 minutes later another sleepy degu makes her way up the ramps. Until the last sleepy degu joins her sisters to a chorus of degu squeaks asking 'what took you so long!'
Reggie has stuffed her hut with all the loo roll she could get her paws on so she's nice and cosy.

Its the Yorkshire Lasses who are the instigators, Reggie just deliberately moves to another level so they have to follow her, lol.

Not much wakes her when she's that chilled, not even a tummy tickle, lol.

OK so Ruby is off to the vet on Monday for a check up as I've noticed a cloudy patch in her right eye. I'm not sure if it's a cataract or something else, but I want to rule out diabetes.
She's fed the same as everyone else but is first for the food. As a precaution I've cut down the few treats that they have, I don't feed many anyway and it's mainly sunflower and pumpkin seeds. I know that the rspca gave them shreddies (sugar loaded) when they were filming them, but I'm not sure how often.
I haven't noticed her drinking more or any increased activity.

And you should have your new carry case in a couple of weeks Excellent! I'm taking Ruby on her own on Monday to limit the possibility of having little Houdinis running around the lounge again. They're going to take a look at her teeth too.

Reggie and Ruby saw Wendy today, they were very well behaved.
Upshot is, both have cataracts, but they urine tests have come back negative for diabetes which is excellent news. I've emailed the photos of the dipstix results to Wendy and I think it will be monitoring to make sure there's no changes.
I'm going to keep them on a very restricted diet treat wise to try to keep it in check, but we did discuss the fact that they could be genetic and not diabetes related.
