I'm confused, why would Wendy be looking at me, lol.? Their appointment is Friday morning so I have to have all four corralled in two carriers before 9.30. Good game, lol.

When I typed in, "when is your appointment with Wendy," it suddenly struck me that it could sound like it is your personal appointment, not for the degus . . . and then a vision of you sitting in the chair while Wendy examined your molars popped into my head . . . and the rest followed, but without the explanation. LOL. Sorry . . . that probably would have helped!

Just back from the vets! All four have been given a clean bill of health with the exception that Ruby's front teeth are a little longer than we would like. I've been advised to monitor her as she'll need sedation to get them trimmed and at the moment they don't appear to be bothering her at all, she's just a noisy eater, so I'll keep an eye on her.
The big change has been that they have all put on weight, but Sphene is now over 300gm which means that since May she has gained almost 50gm. She must like the food here!

Yesterday I had a word with Ruby, told her that I may have to book her in with Wendy to get her teeth looked at. Today she was grinding them on the wheel while her sister was running.
She's going to be trouble..... lol.
Edit: Amber has learned how to build a nest! I've just watched her drag some loo roll from one nest, down the ramp and into another nest for the first time. She must have been watching Reggie! Yay!!

Mine have done the wheel grind thing before (mostly Squidgy). He would sometimes spin the wheel with his paws to do so! Squidgy never had dental problems, so it's not necessarily panic stations

Oh I'm quite happy for her to do her own dental work. All of mine have used the wheel as a grinder in the past so I'm not worried.

Little Amber has a limp, or more accurately a hop. There was an altercation on big wheel a couple of days ago when they couldn't decide which direction to run and I think she got the worse of it.
She's weight bearing on her back leg and using it to scratch herself, but hops on it when she gets to the bottom of the ramps. She has had a run on the wheel and I suspect it's a sprain.
I've put a heat pad in and I'll give Wendy a ring in the morning to get some metacam.

She's been booked in for Thursday, it was the first appointment I could get.

Hopefully just a sprain, as you say.

Today she's using it almost as normal, squatting down as usual when sitting, weight bearing, running on the wheel, and she certainly shot up that ramp pretty quickly when I fed them this morning.
I'll keep the appointment and see how she is on Thursday. I asked if I could take all three in to reduce the stress on her and they agreed.

I'm so glad her usage is looking more normal today! That is good news. Also that all three girls can go in together!! Well done, Savvy!

Its been a while so I thought I'd update.
Its now a battle not to be mugged when I put their food in and as one is following me hand, the other two are clamouring at the door to see what else I've got. I'm surprised no one has fallen out of the cage!
They do watch me intensely when I'm cuddling Reggie so I think they're picking up on whatever pheromones she is giving off when she relaxes into my open hand.
I've been putting piles of toilet tissue in various places to encourage them to nest build.
All in all, I think they're doing well at settling into their first real home.

Ah, what you really mean is they're examining your routine, looking for the weaknesses to exploit!

Savvy's girls have been annoying each other. Amber has been getting fed up with Ruby's constant dashing about. The solution? Sit on her. In the wheel.

Yeah, the cages have been a bit hormonal this week, lol. Sphene had already commandeered the big wheel at the bottom.
