R O F L!! That trick of running in the same direction is rather helpful! Totally removes the one step forward, one step back frustration!

They'll figure it out when the weaker one does a loop! titchycatnipsandwich has just fitted a new one too, and had to educate her boy how to use it. I seem to remember bribery with a nut was involved!

I was at a pollinators thing the other day, and the guy is showing us these bugs that happen to be mating, and then they try to run away, but each going in the opposite direction...while still connected at the genitals!

The girls are getting a bit more confident now, and will even let me put their food in and stay quite close to my hand. Little Amber has even taken a hazelnut from me through the bars.
However, I think we are still a long way from introductions yet. Reggie and Amber regularly spot each other through the bars, but yesterday Amber rushed at her, squeaking furiously. Reggie just casually walked away, but I don't think a face to face is advisable yet.

I'm glad they are increasing in hand tameness! (Which sounds like a weird word, when I hear it in my head. ROFL) I'm sorry for the aggressive rush from Amber. I think you are right . . . not yet time.

They are now developing more degu-like behaviour. As I've said before, I don't think they've had substrate before, but one of them (I'm not sure which one because she was hidden) has now learned to dig and back kick the substrate. Yay!
I've also heard them rearranging the loo roll, but haven't quite worked out how to drag it around the cage yet. I'm sure they'll learn in time. I've also heard tidbits being buried.
But I've yet to hear or see any of them chewing any wood. Everything in their cage, apart from the wheels is wood, but they just ignore it.
Its great that they can be goos!

Well this week we've had the delight of two being on heat, Reggie and one of the Yorkshire Lasses. What joy!
They are still very much settling in, but I think they've been having a word with Reggie as I woke up from a nap to find all three staring at me because I was late with dinner. Bossy lot. They were a bit skittish last night, but the weather was a bit stormy and as soon as I closed the curtains, Sphene stopped the incessant squeaking.
I thought we were getting close to intros as I heard Reggie and Amber chittering quite happily through the bars, but then it turned a little nasty. Reggie was still quite happy, but Amber was stamping all four feet at Reggie. I'm not sure what that means but she didn't look happy.

Whenever Spidey jumps up and down on all fours (like mini popcorning), it's because he's totally freaked by something. He's started to do this in the past couple of months, and I think his senses have been impaired a bit.

This was more aggressive than popcorning, it was more like a dog making a stand against an intruder.

I've just arranged a small treat for all four ladies, although they may not like it much. They are off to see Wendy next week for a health check. I've noticed that Ruby is making a lot of noise when she eats and her bottom teeth look a little long, so I thought, if I'm taking one, I may as well take all four.

Wendy handled Dixie quite a bit, she even dealt with his penis prolapse, I don't think she's going to be overly phased, lol.

Sounds a bit like John! He doesn't even get me to sign the consent forms any more. His logic is that he's done pretty much everything to my lot at some point, so it's not like I don't know the risks!

When Dixie was ill and I asked about increasing his meds, she just said 'you know what you're doing, you'll be fine.'

When is your appointment with Wendy . . . I mean . . . THEIR appointment with Wendy? Wendy might be a little freaked if you show up expecting to be looked at as well. ROFL!
