Well tonight, she would only have the peanut butter, lol. It had her meds in and she's eaten forage, so I'm taking it as a sign that now she's back up to near normal weight she doesn't want the extra calories.
I'll be keeping a eye on her obviously, but as long as she eats and takes her meds, I'm not overly worried at the moment.

Little Amber has today been back at the vets as she was beginning to drool again. Her front teeth were overgrown but no spurs on her molars. She was very well behaved and has been thoroughly nemo'd by Ruby the Foody upon return.
She's still a little sleepy so I'm letting her rest before I grab her again for meds. The vet said her front jaw doesn't meet properly so her front teeth don't wear down as they should. I did suggest braces, lol.
She seems happy to be home again.

Today I made a discovery, Little Amber won't take meds from a small syringe, but she will eat from a CC syringe. She's had some meds, not sure if its the full dose, but better than nothing and she's eating slop again. Weighed in at 190g so she's only lost 7g from her dental.

Not sure if this will help anyone else, but feeding her from the CC syringe, she preferred it to be held at the same angle as her water bottle.

That's interesting about the angle of the CC syringe, I could never get the hang of the big nozzle.
I'm sorry she's had to back for a dental so soon.

Thanks moletteuk, I think its going to be an ongoing issue with her front teeth as she can't wear them down properly. I discussed it with the vet and it appears to be a natural malformation as opposed to being caused by her overgrown molar roots. To be honest, I've never seen her able to fully close her mouth since she arrived which in a way is good for spotting when she needs them trimmed. It's not an ideal situation, but, hopefully, we can keep her as comfortable as possible for as long as possible.

What kind of time between trims do you think you are looking at?

I'm not sure, I've managed to get her to chew at a cardboard tube which may help and she is eating hard food too now. Her last dental where they trimmed her front teeth was 26th September, but she didn't take that much off and didn't prescribe metacam, she was x-rayed and prescribed on 10th October. So he had a couple of weeks where she wasn't eating much due to overgrown molar roots.
There were no spurs on her visible molars, its just her front teeth because they don't meet properly.

Quick update: Little Amber is holding at 206g which is very good! She still loves her slop, but I'm now making it stiff enough for her to hold in her paws so its quite chewy and she's also eating forage. I've cut down on the amount of slop she's getting as I'm trying to encourage her to eat more hard stuff.
She is still drooling a little, especially when she's been asleep, but as her mouth does fully close - it never has - I'm not too concerned about that. She is still grooming herself and her sister, running on the wheel and loves to play catch me if you can at meds time.

Just caught Little Amber for her meds, she usually plays hide and seek behind the wheel on the lower level, today I trapped her on the upper level with nowhere to hide. Miffed doesn't quite cover it, ROFL! On the plus side she's up to 209g now, Sphene is 216g.
