1. My degu marshmallow is spinning around like crazy and he sometimes stops but is always runnign or spinning, i think he may have some brain damage cause he is born from a sister x father pair, others are kinda normal, only the small cookie is running like crazy and never stopping to do anything except at the cage. Should I bring him to the vet? 2. Maja from (very unwell degu, need help:( thread) is losing weight again and stopped eating critical care....shes at 172g and only eating sunflower seeds, carrots choped into small cubes and nothing else... i don't know what to do and her surgery at the vet is at monday... I dont want her to lose weight anymore:(

Marshmallow needs to see a vet. Has this just come on suddenly or has he been like it since birth, since you mention concern about the parents? Does he sleep, can he function?
I'm really concerned and confused about Maja. Can you remind me if it's the experimental surgery she is having on Monday? Did she already have a trim or not? I'm a bit concerned she might be too weak, I would suggest that you speak with the vet beforehand and discuss having the vet just do essential trimming work to allow her to eat better and recover to possibly be able to have more surgery later. I see that you first told us about the dental issue at the start of January, I'm very concerned that if she hasn't had any dental work done since the need was found at that time, her mouth could be a real mess by now.

He has been doing this when he saw Marshmallow spin but they started to do this since they could properly walk. Momas are okay, never done this and they are healthy. Cookie sleeps at night and eats normaly but his weight is the smallest of all, only 145 about. About maja , she is having xray and a left side bottom molar trim, she has never had problems until now, he said that if we wont do it she will stop eating and die, which i dont want to happen. She is eating some carrots and some other food but not critical care.

A dental trim and xray is usually fairly straightforward but there are no guarantees with anaethetics and unfortunately it is possibly going to be a more difficult job since so much time has passed since the problem was found. I thought you were waiting to do the complicated surgery.
Oh, I see you mean Cookie is overactive as well as Marshmallow spinning. I think you should monitor their weights. Do they appear exhausted sometimes? Only you can decide if they are OK by comparing to the activity of your other degus. Some degus are more active than others, but they should take time to eat and drink and rest and be social with their cage mates.

You are honestly confusing me putting 'lol' in your reply. From what you describe Marshmallow may have a serious neurological condition and there is a chance Cookie could have diabetes if he is overactive and then exhausted in turns.

@ Cookiedegus . . . I'd like to ask if by "spinning" you mean running on the flying saucer wheel? Or do you mean he is turning his body in rapid circles, like a child does to become dizzy?

That's OK, it just makes it difficult to judge how serious a problem might be and what to suggest. Degus are funny and weird but we try to take degu health very seriously and we always try to help forum members with the health of their degus.
I think you need to monitor Marshmallow and Cookie's weight closely, they need to not to be so active that they aren't growing, they need to not look skinny or scrawny. I think you need to monitor Marshmallow's quality of life very carefully, is he able to eat and rest OK?
As I said, you need to watch Cookie's weight and compare his activity to your other healthy degus to judge whether he is just very active or if he may have a health issue like diabetes.
Did Maja have her dental work today?

Here's a video of them running, the normal one is Hugo who's chill and eating food. Others are not spinning yet, but running like crazy. P. S please excuse my dirty bathroom! I took everything about (the wheel and etc) to film this, they aren't running in the wheel, only Hugo Here's a link to the video: photos.app.goo.gl/KKWNange4u1CSMhW9

Hello love . . . I tried to look at the link, but is doesn't work. Highlight it, then right-click and choose "open link". Or copy and paste it into the url bar thingy. (Or, can an admin edit the post to put some spaces between her sentence and the link? I think that's the problem.)
Looks like just active youngsters to me. Is there other, more severe actions that this video didn't get?

Yes, this is their "running" mode, they get really hype when they get out of the cage and start spinning, even on the house! They also climb on each others back at the most random times.

I would throw some cardboard boxes and sticks or newspaper, anything, in the bath. I think they are a bit agitated because they are trapped in there with nowhere to hide.
