Oh dear, they need a degu experienced mum real quick! 10 months is an awkward age though, just at the start of adolescence.
As they can't tell the difference between 10 months and 2 years, are you sure they're girls.

We haven't replied yet, as I want to sleep on it and compose a reply tomorrow when I'm (hopefully) feeling a bit calmer.

Do you have a pets@home nearer to you? If so, would it be possible for them to transport them to the nearer store for you to collect? I think Pets4Homes and Pets@Home are separate organisations with similar names
It drives me wild when I see pets being dumped just because they no longer fit with your lifestyle. I once told someone who returned a kitten to my local pet shop because their son was allergic to return the kid instead, lol. Yes a few choice words were shared with my partner along those lines as well!!
I loathe looking at websites like Pets4Homes / Preloved for this very reason. I saw a 6 month old rabbit being advertised because the kids were no longer interested Agreed skittish! Pets4homes is basically P@H. One of the main reasons the former was created was because so many animals were returned and couldn't be reintegrated with "stock". The other was to provide a more sympathetic outlet for stock that has become unsaleable. This broadly covers animals that aren't cute babies any more, and those that are unattractive to their customer base, such as gerbils with red eyes. It means they can recover costs. Virtually all their listing say their owner (read here P@H) could no longer keep (sell) them. If you question the staff instore hard enough, they will admit this to you. They did to me!

If memory serves, it doesn't always lol, I think they registered the pets@ and pets4 as trademarks, a bit like toys r us did with the reverse r.

Hi all, great news! We have adopted two 4 year old girls and we picked them up today.
We have split the double enclosure into two, and put cardboard sheets between the mesh panels just whilst they get settled in. We are using some of their existing bedding/sand/food and enclosure items to keep things familiar to help with the transition but so far they are extremely inquisitive and friendly and don't appear to be too phased.
We are really looking forward to introducing them to Theo and I will update you as things progress!
Thanks everyone for your support so far!

Of course, photos and updates to follow. I'll start a new thread in introductions and this one can be closed.
We're so happy to finally have them here. We've been in communication with the previous owner since the end of January and were waiting for restrictions to ease to allow some limited travel so we could meet at a halfway point.
Now fingers crossed they get on well with Theo!
