John said it was aggressive! Hoping any surgery can get a clear margin around the tumour. I had a gerbil with a tumour - that one came back again within two weeks

Thanks. Dropped him and Silly off this evening, so hoping for a positive call tomorrow. John did say he was in very good health otherwise, which I take to mean he fought, swore, and tried to bite John when he did his examination

It's not good news.
The removal of the lump would mean cutting out a substantial part of neck tissue and other areas where it wouldn't be safe to go. He also found it's formed an attachment. It appears it's also spread to his chest cavity,as he was having breathing problems under anaesthesia.
So, it's going to be a process of watching, waiting, and drugging.

It is what it is. It looks like he's slowing down a bit, but I'd associated that with old age and arthritis (they're both at least 7yrs). I sometimes walk into the kitchen during the day to see the tail end of a mad struggle to get out of the bed cube and onto a perch before they're spotted. I'll just keep an eye on him and do whatever is needed.

So sad that there is not much more that can be done for him. Each day he is in this world is a blessing.

I don't know if the growth is starting to affect him internally, but he's started to act very strangely out of the cage. He's extremely vocal when he's out (guinea pig mumbles) and super jumpy. I've NEVER seen him popcorn before, but he's just popcorned from the floor, onto the cat scratcher, then the edge of the feather box, to the top of one of the big tubes in the space of a second! He's a perfectly normal Spidey inside the cage.

Could he just be nervous? He must be able to sense that he's not fully well, so is taking precautions when out of his cage.
