Hi, this isn’t a huge issue but my oldest girl, Cinnamon just isn’t taking dust bathes. Her last one that she took on her own was probably in August. I’ve been just sprinkling some dust on her fur to help but she just shakes it off. I’m thinking maybe her dust bath box is too small? It’s about 6 inches by 4 inches and Cinnamon’s a pretty big degu. Compared to all my other degus she’s extremely big but not overweight just really round lol Any thoughts on how to get her to take dust bathes again?

Does she have any free time at all? If she does, try putting a sprinkling of sand in an open space and she if she'll roll in that. If not, then you'll know it's not a space issue.

My Scaredy stopped taking dust baths for over a year before he passed. It was mostly down to his arthritis.

If you don’t mind me asking, what are some signs of arthritis in degus? So I can keep a look out for Cinnamon. I’ll try that ad see what she does!!

DL21! Great to see you back, I was only wondering how you were the other day.
Reggie only takes baths when she's filled it with hay and toilet tissue, so I doubt it gets her very clean, lol.

I'm really sorry to hear that, DL21! Acid reflux is NO FUN!! Have you been checked for ulcers? Do you have any foods that particularly set it off? Is it all the time, or just at certain times of the day? I have a friend that swears by pickle juice . . . the liquid in a pickle jar. They take about 1/3 - 1/2 a cup of pickle juice at a time.
Acid reflux is often the result of the stomach producing TOO LITTLE acid to digest foods. Which seems counter intuitive, I know, but that is the case. It can also happen if your thyroid levels are too low. Or if you use Synthroid to treat low thyroid, if your medications are too high. My sister is currently in a battle to conquer acid reflux and she is whittling away the evidence. Right now, she may well be in the camp of too much Synthroid. I hope you are soon able to resolve this issue. It is just so nasty!

I get it bad in a morning when I just wake up and late at night. Also bad when my stomach is empty. It’s just affecting my life, work, sleep, I’ve had sick days of with it due to crying in pain. Feeling sick all the time, no Motivation at all and like No energy at all. I keep pushing the doctors to do something. They first want me to be checked for E. coli it’s like a stomach Bacteria etc I’ve just acid for a few years but the last how many months it’s got so bad I’m getting it everyday.

Have you tried a wedge thing for your bed that lifts your upper body up to stop the acid coming back up while you are lying down?

Do you feel like you have to keep something in your stomach at all times? Have you been needing more pain relief for other things over the past while, headaches, backache, muscle pain etc. . . . so taking say Ibuprofen for pain (Advil is one such brand name)? These kinds of pain relief can cause inflammation in the stomach lining that creates constant pain, and can cause acid reflux.
Do you mean H Pylori . . . stomach bacteria that causes ulcers? Did they do tests . . . swab of the mouth, or breath analysis?
I mentioned some possible causes in my above post . . . do any of those sound familiar? Have you tried taking something like the pickle juice, or 1- 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar mixed in with one cup of warm water? (If needed, you can add a bit of honey to sweeten.)

I had headaches a lot for the past 2 weeks.. but I’m was just thinking it was my wisdom teeth cos both of them are like half way though at the top. My stomach is always bloated tho. I’ve tried 5 different meds. And I try and avoid painkillers cos of my stomach.
