I have 3 males and one female who just gave birth. The boys have been having "fun" while she's gone, even with all 3... I prefer this over the train of 4 we used to see. The boys keep trying to mate with her even when she's breastfeeding too, like, back off bud.
Because a female degu can get pregnant again within 24hours of giving birth. You really need to separate mum (with the pups) from the boys because you will be having a second litter and back to back pregnancies are really hard on mum.
YIKES!! One female and three males all together? Can you tell me how old they are?
As Savvy said . . . you need a separate cage for her and the pups and you need it quick. Not only will they be continually mating the new mom . . . but before you know it they may be mating with any female pups as well. Females pups can be impregnated as early as 6 weeks age. Being mated at such young ages, is EXTREMELY hard on them. AND the sexual attentions of these males could cause internal damages.
Having the female in the cage with these males will most certainly drive up their insane sex drive, and make it much more frenzied. You will help them all by removing the female and pups to a separate cage, to a different area of the room or your home.
