No wonder they only live about 24 hours. They die of exhaustion.

I've gone a little OTT - I think. Have two different types, so I've ordered traps for both. I also decided (especially with my CostCo shopping) to put a second freezer in the shed with my bike. Virtually all space in there is currently taken up with goo chow lol. I hope to come back from Cyprus and not see a single suggestion of a moth!

Well, I don't know how, but the moths, waxworms, and eggs somehow survived my chest freezer! I've had no moths since I moved the dodgy feed into the freezer. I brought in the small bags that had been in my mum's freezer inside and put them on the stairs, and ended up with waxworms crawling up the walls. After another couple of months chilling, I bring in another bag and I've suddenly got multiple moths flying around the kitchen!
This is the first time in 20 years I won't be spending January in Austria, so I think I'll give Galen's Garden a try!

I've had bugs survive the freezer, too. I think they're getting tougher. Had a 50 pound bag of bird seed (for my indoor birds) come contaminated with moths once. Called the supplier, since that indicates poor storage conditions, and they just sort of said "oh well, yes, freeze it, that's good" as if everyone has room for a 50 pound bag of seed in their freezer. Last time I used that supplier, at the very least I should have gotten an "oh, so sorry" if not some action.
Took over 2 years to wipe out those dang moths.

I'd wiped them out from the seed infestation, so to have them return is a pain in the backside. I've ordered 1kg of a few mixes from Galen's Garden. It may not be SAB, but......... Like you, Ruth, I am just disappointed with the lack of care from Hansemanns re the mouldy dandelion root (but immediately stopped putting it in plastic bags). I'll see how it works out. Interestingly enough, these moths that have come from the freezer are black! They are also crafter, and the pheromone traps don't interest them. Perhaps something to do with the cryogenics! Hey, have we discovered the technique?! Or else zombie moths

Are you sure they're the same moths? Can we have a picture? It may be that you need a different pheromone trap.

Thing is, Savvy, I've had absolutely nothing new come into the house! It purely coincided with me starting that bag of food. The aren't black as such, just dark brown (from the squished remains caught in my hand....... I've got some other food today to keep us going

if they don't like the pheromone traps, then they may well be another species of moth.

I have to admit, I've never been a fan of ANYTHING in the lepidoptera family.

Evil things! Them and carpet beetles! Sausage attempted to type a comment, but it was largely incoherent. It could be that he just wanted to check if his photo has been posted recently

Well, I emptied the remains of the forage from their bowls, binned the remains the bag, and all the zombie moths have disappeared!

If you're still clear in about 2 weeks, then you've probably gotten them and the source. However, if any eggs or larvae are hiding somewhere.....

Yeah, I'm hoping the ones that appeared are what survived in the food as eggs!

I found one yesterday, it was crawling out of a very small hole behind the coving. I'm going to have to get someone up there with the steam cleaner.
I'm the meantime I'm going to change the cards on the pheromone traps and turns the heating down a bit!
