Somebody I know is using tylose powder to make a glue substance to coat toys and cardboard in herbs etc for their goos. I know that this is used in dog baking sometimes, but is it safe for degus?

Found this on a manufacturer's site, they sell their Tylose under the name of Dayelet CMC, and it would appear it should be degu-safe. Can't be 100% sure until someone tries it. But it looks okay, I think.
"NUTRITION INFORMATION PER 100g: 0 kcal/100g. Carbohydrates: 0% (0% of them are polyols). Other hydrates: 0%. Nutritional fibres: 91%. Fat: 0% (Saturated fat: 0%). Protein: 0%. Sodium: 9%. DAYELET CMC is an insoluble fibre which is not metabolized; therefore, it is calorie-free. Excessive consumption may cause a laxative effect and reduce appetite. Its Glycemic Index is zero."
Tylose is the same as CMC--carboxymethylcellulose.

...except degus can digest hemi-cellulose so I wonder if CMC is going to be completely undigestible for degus?
I think they would need to experiment very carefully with a small amount first.
...seems like a bit of a weird idea?...
