Sometimes we just don't have the option of the side by side . . . so we do the best we can. You are doing that exactly that, love, and it's totally OK! Sounds like everyone is sporting battle wounds. OUCH I've been there! You're doing a great job . . . hang in there!

There is a risk of bitten toes with a mesh divider, but if you are sensing they just want to be closer for friendly reasons, then give it a try while you are there to watch. It is quite difficult to secure mesh, you would probably need to screw it down using battens to hold it for it to be secure.
I'm not sure about keeping on swapping cage items. You could try stopping it for now while Twix and Basil are getting their knickers in a twist. You can always start again later.

Yeah we all have battle wounds so think its a good idea to give them time to heal because my toe is killing so god knows how they are feeling, i know they are good at hiding pain! I was thinking of just a small area of mesh to start off with, maybe even double it up, i have some heavy tiles that i was gonna put flat all the way around it and weigh them down with heavy stones, i can remove the ladder underneath to stop Basil getting to the mesh divide if i need to also. May leave it a few days before i do this though and when im around to monitor. I think im gonna leave Peanuts bedding and just concentrate on Twix and Basil and swapping their stuff. Is it best to leave them in their current halves so Twix on top and Basil on bottom or should i swap them around occassionally? Both halves have beds, hammocks and wheels but the top half has the tic tac wheel which they both love and where they spent majority of their time.
