Hi I have managed to get two 6moth old Degu. My current Degu is so happy to see new friends how long before I can put them together?

I'm not the intros person, but generally you would normally allow new degus to settle for at least a week and then have them in cages side be side for a couple of weeks, but if Flash is looking positive then you may be able to speed things along a bit if you go cautiously. Do make sure and double check the new guys and Flash are all boys before you do any meets. deguworld.proboards.com/thread/13070/degus

I would definitely give the new guys time to settle in, to get used to the new sights and sounds of their new home, and for you to begin to get to know them a bit. A week of settling in is sometimes sufficient, but that depends on the degus. I would recommend having them in cages that are side by side upwards of a month before you start face to face introductions. As well, at six months you are potentially going to be seeing dominance fighting between the two pups. and that will begin to include Flash as well, so life may be topsy turvy with them all for a good long while. I expect you have experienced the adolescent stage before.
I think what is really crucial is that you have a cage that is generous in size, to allow them to have space if they need to get away from each other. I was looking back at your "If you need/want extra space" thread, and I am wondering if that is the cage you still have? Is it what you will use for all three once they are introduced? Also would like to ask what kind of cage are the pups in?

The pups are in a large single cage and I put it next to the degu I already had. He is so happy he keeps making the cutest sound. I shall end up using the largest cage when they can all go in together. I hope they bond they are tiny compared to him. Also when can they have some free time? Just the pups I mean

Do you still have that awesome playpen that you got last year?

I'm thinking that if you have that, maybe you could . . . but it could be better if you have some good hand training with them under your belt before you do.

Wonderful news Allan! Ditto the others - let the pups get used to their new surroundings first. If you don't, they may be jumpier than you'd like. Once they're settled, there's no reason why you can't start letting them out. It'll give you a chance to get to know them better and vice versa. Before you let them all meet, you'll want to be at the stage where you've got both cages together, substrate swapped (just a couple of handfuls at a time), and the two sides either acting with indifference towards each other, or lots of happy interactions. You may even be lucky enough to see one or both sides move their nest to the bars so they can sleep as close to each other as possible. Choose somewhere neutral for their first meet. Many have used a bathtub, because it doesn't have either scent, and it's more contained for rescuing a goo if fighting breaks out. Let the goos guide you - you'll know when it's time Edit: we want photos please!
