So . . . the vet was pleased with his weight? He's a great weight for his size now as she mentioned that he was a little on the chubby side when we first got him. As for Gizmo, he has lost weight too (gained since the start of the week) but she didn't mention him being underweight. Difficulty is he wasn't eating quite as much over Christmas, but he's eating fine since he's been back so the weight loss could have occurred there. So that could just be stress related.

Slept in their room the past couple of nights and spent 90% of yesterday with them, no more painful noises, water seems to be steadily going down, and there are a few more spots of urine in the cage. With all that in mind, I cancelled their appointment but took fresh urine samples in this morning and Gizmo's was clear of ketones etc. Brnji's still contained protein but they did an analysis of it and aren't concerned.
So they both seem to be healthy for now...
