I am heartbroken to be looking for a new home for our two younger girls, Popchik and Kitsey. We got the girls to bond with a lone Degu a year and a half ago, but now our original lady has poor health and is not getting along with Popchik any longer, resulting in fights that could be extremely detrimental to her health. She is also now close enough to us to be a lone degu, and although this was never our ideal, it is much better than the risk of separating the two younger girls. In addition, her condition means that she is spending less and less time in the cage and is occasionally away for nights at a time, so re-bonding sessions happen regularly which can’t be easy for any of them.
The girls are in good health and have a strong bond, so would be a fantastic addition to a female degu group or as a single pair for a devoted owner who understands the demands of the species.
Both girls are friendly and don’t bite - Popchik is extremely inquisitive and interactive and is happy to be hand-fed, whereas Kitsey is a lot more timid and will need a gentle introduction to anyone new. Both are traditionally brown, but Popchik is slim with more shades of blonde, and Kitsey plumper with darker fur and a slightly ginger belly! They are currently fed selective science degu pellets and are used to having some time out of the cage, although not as much as we’d like as we don’t have a fully degu-proofed room.
We are based in Scarborough and unfortunately do not drive, so collection only - we can provide a travel box and water bottle if necessary. No cage included as we still have a degu at home. The girls have travelled in cars multiple times so the journey should not be problematic.
