A wild Ollie has appeared! I really feel like I've started to connect with him the past few days. He doesnt shy away from my hand at all when I have treats now--he actually comes looking for me when I make the "treat noise!" I'm really proud of this goober

They may never get over the rejection.

Ollie knows I have food in my hand when I rub my thumb against my forefinger. Today, I put my hand in the cage, made that signal, and he came running! Actually ran down from the second floor to get a treat

Thanks guys! I'm always impressed by how smart and willing to trust animals are. And it's been really nice to have good things happening with the goos since the rest of life has been a little rough lately. Hopefully I'll have more pics to post of them soon though

So. Ollie had a filmy eye today. And I caught him making the same weird mouth movement that Fred makes. I'm planning on calling the vet today.
Any advice on taking a goo who doesnt fully trust you to the vet?

Don't take him alone, bring along his companions. Maybe. That's what I would do . . . but I'm not sure what that would look like when taking him out of the transport cage and putting him back in. It should help to keep him from completely freaking out because he won't be long separated from his colony.

Agree. Mine have had both group and solo trips. Scaredy is used to it and is part of a solid group. Both with solo trips, and when I've taken perhaps two from the other group, it's more the behaviour I see when they get back. Those who have been away kind of get pounced on because they smell different. By taking all three, there won't be this pouncing. Plus, it'll be reinforcement to this confused little group that you're not going to separate them, and they've found their forever home!

Heatpad in the travel box can help keep them calm, but not too hot.

Awesome, thanks all! Haha, Bouncy, they really have I talked to the vets office, Ollie has an appointment on Thursday. I gave them a heads up on his history and the cataracts in both eyes. I wasn't able to make an appt with my regular vet, but they assured me this other vet also has degu dental experience. The vet tech said she'd let my regular vet know, see if he wanted to switch things around so he could be the one to see me instead. So we'll see how this all goes!

Rearranged my bedroom so now the goos have about triple their previous play area! Q is zooming around the floor with toilet paper in his mouth, looking for the best place to build a nest! Hes seriously considering the sand box. youtu.be/pHcmcY6RjgA
