So i’m planning on getting a chinchilla for Christmas and i need help with the wheel and the cage.Well i might get 2 but im gonna think about it. The cages in the petshops around me are too small for a chinchilla and i can’t find any good wheels. If anyone can give me a link with some good wheels and cages that will be very much appreciated  Also, aspen shavings bedding its alright? thankss ❤️ |

You can look up the Aventura Cage, which can house a chin quite well. TicTac wheels are also good, but you would need to look at the 16 inch wheel. Even that might be kind of small . . . hopefully some of our chin people will see your post soon and give you better information if I'm incorrect.

It really depends on where you're from. North America you want a double ferret or critter nation, UK an aventura, cozypet rc03, liberta explorer 2nd edition, pet planet rat and ferret cage or a savic royal suite xl are your best options. The rest of the EU, critter nations or liberta explorers should be available from somewhere. Wheels US chin spin are popular but personally I'd go for the large metal flying saucer wheel. UK and europe TicTac wheels as DC mentioned (16" diameter) or a wheel from www.laufradschmiede.de Alternatively you can look at DIY options on the degu boards or on www.chinchilla-scientia.com and make one yourself. |

In regards to wheel size, it very much depends on how big your chinchilla is, I brought a 14” tic tac wheel and for Peanut it’s too small, but it’s fine for Pickle, so I decided to get a 16” wheel as well.
If the wheel is too small it can damage the chinchillas back causing problems later on.
Some people prefer flying saucers over wheels, because they cause less pressure on the spine, but I am not sure where you can buy one nowadays in England, the last one I brought costed £80, whereas the tic tac wheels are around £45.
