Nod - estimated age is 3.5 years old. Took Nod to the vet for a check up because she snuffles - especially when she eats. Vet took a look at her and can't find anything wrong with her. He says her breathing sounds fine, her heart sounds good, all looks well and.... her teeth are perfect .

Took Nod back to see Dr. Clement a couple of days ago. She continues to snuffle, her breathing is still laboured and may be worsening, she is wiping her nose a lot, she coughs, and she is losing weight. On the positive side - she is very active (crazy, almost manic active) and clear-eyed.
I also told the vet that I suspect that Nod, and possibly Blinken, are diabetic. Nod definitely drinks a lot.
The vet had a listen to her heart and lungs. All seems fine there but she told me that the symptoms do point to a heart issue. Diabetes may also be a factor. However, we will first treat the coughing and the nose wiping with antibiotics, in case there is a respiratory ailment. After two weeks, Nod goes in for a followup.

Sounds a bit strange, I hope Dr Clement can figure something out and help.

Blinken drinks a lot but otherwise does not show similar symptoms.
It is strange but something is going on. Maybe it is nothing to worry about - Dr. Auger had thought that maybe her nasal passages are just narrow. But the weight loss is concerning.

Nod had her followup today. She is absolutely fine now after 14 days of baytril (twice a day) - no snuffling, no coughing, no wiping her nose. She probably does have narrow nasal passages which make even the slightest congestion difficult for her - that may be why she was showing signs of distress before the infection reached her lungs (lungs have sounded find all along).

I think Nod is dying. Her condition is similar to Inken's a few days before she passed away - laboured breathing, weight loss, lethargy. This being a long weekend, both of the vets I go to are either not in or their clinic is closed. I can't get an appointment before Tuesday - I doubt she will last that long. We'll see. She is eating so I gave her some Metacam on half a treat.

The Metacam has helped. She is now up and moving about.

WHEW!!! Good thinking, Yasmin! I pray it continues to help and that she is well past whatever is ailing her before Tuesday comes.

She seems to be doing better today. Breathing still rough but back to her active self.

I didn’t take her. She has been active and eating ever since.
Not sure what happened that day . She was lying outstretched and on her side - not bloated. She barely moved and when she did she walked slowly with her stomach low down near the floor. After the Metacam, she slowly returned to her normal behaviour. I have not given her Metacam since and she has been back to normal - running her wheel, chewing on the bars and wanting to be held and carried around.

Nod passed away just now. I see it's been a long time since I have updated this thread. Nod was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago and was expected to pass within days - however, with daily prednisone and TLC she lived several months more with a reasonable quality of life. However, in the past week or so she experienced bouts of diarrhea and blood in her urine. This morning, I found her laying on her side, not at her usual place on her heated bed (reptile rock covered with fleece ramp cover), and breathing through her mouth. I made an appointment with the vet for 5 pm - it is now 3 pm. Must admit, I am thankful that she did not have to suffer the one hour drive to the vet - and that she passed in her own home. Rest in peace, my sweetest.
