Ok, good to know! I've only heard it lately when my Maurader group is having play time. Never heard it when the pups are out, so that's good.
Ill see if I can get a better quality video.

I get the same noise from Bumblebee when I'm giving him a treat! Poor little guy is torn between wanting the treat and sending me off, lol. Hahaha, so silly. I'm lucky so far in that all my goos are very friendly with me!

When I put the pups back in the temp cage after play time with Fred, this was their interaction. Looks to me like they're grooming through the bars! youtu.be/LEnv997SVTQ

Definitely grooming with the pup on the bottom, and looks like it could be grooming or kissing with the one on top. WOO HOO! That's great!

Yay! What should I look for before putting them together? I've never had pups before, so their behavior and sounds are different than what I'm used to And thank you all for your advice I very much appreciate it.

I wouldn't lump them in together for 24/7 just yet. I would let them have some face to face meetings to see how those go. The reactions through the bars are very encouraging, but sometimes those bars exert a great deal of influence and you see a different behavior when the bars are removed. Do you have a bathroom that has no holes or tiny spaces that could be escaped into? Or a bathtub? If you have a bathroom that can be made thoroughly degu proof, then putting them in there to explore and get to know each other is a good option. It also lets you have the fun of laying on the floor in there with them and letting them explore and climb all over your body. It is a GREAT bonding tool as well as a lot of fun!

For sure, that makes sense. Bars definitely influence behaviors. I've actually got a huge play area set up (takes up most of my room). Everyone gets about an hour of play time each day, with me sitting in there with them. Its wonderful bonding I've got a picture with Fred, where hes gotten into the habit of surprise running up my back! The pups and Fred have had mutual play time every day since Friday. The pups go out for maybe 10-20 min while Fred is out, then back in their cage for a bit. And repeat. I'll hold off for a bit longer, see how a few more play times go. And my cage addition is cleaned, so that'll help give them more space.

Oh they're chittering! It's friendly chatter and how they speak to each other. It's nothing to worry about and sounds quite cute.

Yay! Thanks Savvy! I think it sounds different for pups vs adults, so it had me worried.
