Hi, I have just bought the Savic Suite XL for my 3 degus and love it. Spray protectors are metal. Only negative is that the bases and shelves are plasti, but the degus haven't noticed yet. They have so much space now and so much other things to chew. I am however prepared for replacing them with wood if and when the degus start to chew them.

Welcome to the forum cdh! Glad to hear your degus love their new cage. It's wonderful to watch them exploring a new cage.

Thanks for the welcome. I will post some photos when I work out how to! I have had 2 female degus for 5 years and one died recently. Last week we got 2, 6 week old females to join her. it seemed a good time to upgrade the cage from the old one which i built myself. I initially put our female Polly downstairs and the two new girls, Rosie and Maisie upstairs. They were so interested we actually let them together the same day. I think Polly was happy her lonely few weeks were over and the babies had just been separated from their parents. Now everyone is happy and one Maisie has already come on my hand.

You'll need to find an image hosting site like FlickR. When you go to the image, some have a link for posting on forums, so just paste that text into your post. If the site doesn't have such a link, you'll need to use the "reply" button in the top right of this box, click on the picture button, and paste the link into the box that pops up!
Your ladies sound adorable! I had the same experience when I got two rescue pups to go with a lone male - they didn't even make it out of the rescue apart, and spent the drive home in the same tube. all snuggled up.

Looking good!! If I were to suggest anything, I would say you could remove some of the things you have in there, and then just rotate in/out different items when you clean. This will leave room for degus to do their own arranging, which they are often obsessed with doing, and it is easier for them to move about or run. You may even catch them building nests in different locations. I would probably reduce the number of things by half.

Good suggestion. It is a bit crowded. We used the things from the old cage and added some new. I wasn't sure how the introduction would go and wanted to give them plenty of places to get out of each others way if needed. However they have gone together really well. They also have free run of mu son's bedroom for 1-2 hours per day.
