What with Scaredy being a bit delicate, and needing help to get into the dust bath, and Spidey's increasingly arthritic clumsiness, I had to reconsider the boys' bath. In the end I found one online, made by a German seller. Shipping wasn't cheap, and I spent the weekend convincing the guy to change his mind about exporting outside Germany. It arrived today! Nicely packed, and solid, this is the biggest of the three sizes (30cm, 40cm, 50cm). Ease of access is good for the periodic sifting, and it has a porch to minimise mess. And the boys love it! Of course I can still watch them too

Yep! The bowl was great, but they used to get annoyed with each other if they didn't want to wait their turn.

Oooh that's exactly what I was after for my lads (but mainly the chins since they're so d**n messy with sand).
Anyone elses house feel like a beach at times?!

Yep! Find the stuff everywhere - a it's little Bumblebee who is the main culprit. He insists on digging most of the sand out of his bath and sends it flying all over the place.
I want one, in fact I want two!

That's the rolls royce of baths, looks bigger than some hamster cages I've seen! So jealous, Manor pet do this one www.manorpethousing.co.uk/dust-bath ( at the price tho) but I just admire it from afar & make do with my £1 giant metal dog bowl that Jelly like to tip over

Yeah, I looked at that one! I wondered about the hole going from entrance to sand, and thought my little Scaredy might struggle. It's ace, tho!

The sandbaths Rob made for ours are holding up really well. They love the two entrances and a lot of the time just sit in them looking out at the world. They also hide all their treats and treasures in there... So I have to check regularly as sometimes it is too full for them to have a wash!

Didn't Emily have Cal make something like that? Hola, no he made houses. We mocked up an idea for a sand bath house but nobody wanted one lol! I do need 4 though. It’s just finding space for them in the vivs.. Suspending them might be the best idea! Thanks for the visual misscatafer 😁 Alfie and Paddy need a big one 😩

Been contacting a ebay seller about something similar asking for prices, see if they can make it cheaper than manor pets as postage takes theirs up to nearly £65 @emdalliance, was Cal's a similar design to the perspex fronted one or a straight-forward wooden box type thing? If it's more like bouncy's, how much does he reckon it would be cost-wise for something 50 x 30 x 30 cm lxwxh?

It arrived today! He's put up a new advert for anyone who wants to buy one, amazing quality and he's so patient if you want anything changing (like if you prefer round pop holes over square or smaller/bigger). Took a little over 2.5 weeks from agreeing on dimensions and payment for mine to get built but that's because he was on holiday when I contacted him and had to go through his back orders first. m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chinchilla-Sand-Dust-Bath-c-w-Side-Compartment-20mm-Solid-Kiln-Dried-Pine/263932379069?hash=item3d73987fbd:g:4loAAOSwoIpbmNgkMine is a little bigger on the side compartment with it being for the chinny-chin-chins but I'm tempted to buy one for the goobers soon. Just need to protect it from chewing now since it'll be kept in the cage with them and it'll be good to go

It'll be big enough I just wanted an antechamber on mine to limit dust and square windows so I could put strip alumium on to stop them from chewing it the dust compartment itself is 30 x 26 x 22 lxwxh (in the non-custom ones it's 17.5x17.5 wxh). One thing I will say is the elmato wood will probably be a lot thinner as I have their hay rack so if your guys are big chewers then it doesn't take as long to get through whereas this is 20mm thick pine.

Oo nice, cheers yeah mine are pretty big chewers so I think the elmato one would be unlikely to last that long! I think I'll get in touch with the seller and chat about plans.
