my degus have little scuffles. this i never have too much of a problem with because they dont tend to get too violent. except recently they've started grabbing onto the other's tail and dragging the other poor degu around. im really worried one of them's going to lose her tail.

Hopefully they'll not escalate to that point! I've seen my two grab one another by the tail and pull it to try to get past the other to get to a treat first. They aren't fighting more like pushing, pulling and climbing over one another. I do hope your girls don't lose track of themselves fighting and go too far.

My two boys look like they are trying to strangle each other They stand on their back legs and put their front paws on each others throats They stand like it for a while, squeaking like mad and then stop and go of to do something else.

that's degu boxing!! mine do it all the time. they're not actually putting their paws on each others' throats, more like their shoulders. then they push back and forth before giving up and doing something else. it's like a couple of brothers roughhousing, that's all.

is it mean to find degu-boxing funny? because i do... not at all! they're not hurting each other, and it is sort of amusing. ^_^
