Hi I am new here. I have what I think is a liberta tower cage and Petey has chewed the bottom tray to bits. Does anyone know where to get replacements? Thanks x

Welcome to the forum.
Oh degus and their chewing, lol.
If he's managed to get through, I'm presuming it's a plastic base, am I right? I'd try to replace with something metal. I'm not familiar with this cage so googled for a look. You could replace with wood covered with floor tiles, or wood covered with aluminium.
Now he knows how to get through, you're going to need something he can't chew.

Oo-er!
As Savvy says or, for longevity, try getting in touch with John Hopewell. He makes cages, and replacement trays for the old Liberta Explorer. If you can give him exact dimensions, he may make one for you!

Thanks for all the replys! Some really great ideas The cage I have is this one www.amazon.co.uk/Liberta-Tower-Rodent-Cage-Large/dp/B002XVCXDGI couldn't find a metal tray so I have got a plastic one from petplanet until I can find one. I have put some kiln dried shelving up around the cage though still more to do and put vinyl tiles on the wire levels. It was Pete and his brother Steve that chewed the bottom when they moved into that cage but he hasn't chewed it since Steve died. I put some wood around the outside at the bottom just in case they did get through one day.

That is a really cool cage! I would love to do something like that but wouldn't know where to start. The metal edging on the shelfs is really good too I never knew you could get them lol

Lots of people manage cage modifications or even cage building from scratch with no previous experience. To kit out a cage you would need a hand saw, a drill, screwdriver, you can large pieces of wood cut in B&Q or local wood suppliers. You can buy wood from DIY stores or local timber merchants or you can buy kit items from ebay or amazon. Most things can be attached to the cage with nuts, bolts and washers from DIY shops or online/ catalogue places like toolstation or screwfix. That metal edging looks like aluminium angle that you can get in DIY stores, or a cheaper option for protection larger pieces of wood is plasterboard angle, or you can just use chunky pieces of wood edging that are replacable.
We have sticky threads with tons of advice at the top of the housing section. just ask if you have any questions.
