I know it may be an unwelcome thought, but what about a job at a fast food establishment? Perhaps it would help to tide you over until you find a job more to your liking and much better matched to your skills and abilities?

I know it may be an unwelcome thought, but what about a job at a fast food establishment? Perhaps it would help to tide you over until you find a job more to your liking and much better matched to your skills and abilities? Honestly, with my anxiety, I am unable to go back to that sort of work. Retail and food service wise, even thinking about it sends me into a bit of a panic attack. And the area I live in, is notorious for meth addicts. My last retail job, one of my coworkers had a gun pointed at her face. The guy was hyped on meth and cocaine. He ended up shooting her. She lived, but I couldn't deal with it anymore. I have seen countless of drug deals go on at the shopping centers. Its really hard for me to get back to that without thinking someone is going to threaten me/hurt me (which has occured in the past). Plus, not that many nice people here. Thats why we had considered I go back to California, because at least I'll have more familiar folks around, and theres more office jobs there than over here. I am trying to find work here, though. As alone as I'll be here, at least I could keep my girls.

I know how you feel with the retail work. I've been held up at knifepoint twice!! Not my ideal choice of work. And it takes a long time to overcome those fears

Oh my word, how awful! Those jobs do not pay well enough for that type of risk and psychological harm.

And it takes a long time to overcome those fears It does take a long time, and since I had been dealing with my ptsd for so many years, it makes it REALLY difficult to handle it. I understand that not everyone is out to hurt me. It is really difficult to shut off that part of my brain that goes "is that person going to hurt me?". I have a hard time even leaving home because I am worried something is going to even hurt my girls or anyone at home. That constant feeling of paranoia makes it difficult to have a normal life.

Many don't realize how bad it can get. Its not just customers treating those in the field bad, but when it comes to someone trying to steal, you cant do anything. Most places wont even allow that your defend yourself or the customer because of liability issues.

GUYS!!!! Guess what The habitat is...well, 98% complete. I had to start over on the water hole - Using cement and river rock to make it. I also have to add some planks on the other two levels, and upgrade their wheel to a metal silent one. But it is in the room now and the girls love it! Below is a link to the album of the habitat. SO relieved that my partner and I got this done. He did a great job, and having to deal with my picky self and all the anxiety and frustration I had throughout this project, lol.
