WOW!! I mean seriously . . . W O W!!!! I love that!! I bet they do too! Now can you see why I didn't join in with the talking. I was busy with my glue gun and cardboard. Even Delilah with her sight problems still runs. She learned it before her cataracts. I'm making adjustments for soft falls if they happen.

What an amazing idea! Not being able to see doesn't stop them my boy with bad cataracts was the first to completely explore the big cage when I upgraded it. Feel free to add more stuff on if you wanted to, she'll take it slower at first but will soon be bombing around it like she owns it!

It's great! Mine live in the kitchen, so I don't have the room to do this, but they generally get all the bits of a package that I don't want, and Spidey's aim becomes to destroy or drag into the cage. Having said that, they do have a route of carpet tubes around the kitchen!

I would like to know how you find them if they suddenly decide to take a nap in the middle of one, LOL!! Honestly it's never a problem. They are like 5 year olds that have been told to sit all day then let loose on the play ground. My problem right now is finding all the food they all have hid in the tubes and around the room.

I started with these then used recycled boxes and some wood. Doesn't it get the mind going with all the Degu things you can do with these!

TOTALLY!! When we first had degus, I wanted to build a "race" course around the upper walls of the room we had them in, but using plexiglass. However, the expense and the husband were two barriers that could not be reconciled. ROFL!

My poor poor husband. He thinks its cute I've found a blog on degus.

We were left with a very long (3m) thin cardboard box after our recent cage build. We cut pieces to size and turned them into tubes within the cage by attaching them to the bottom of shelves using velcro, they are a hit! When you have degus you look at everything as a potential toy/cage accessory lol.

Goos lost in boxes! You can certainly believe it! Left the pups to run around this evening whilst I went to my mum's for an hour, came back, looked for goos, kicked the tubes just in case, and figured they were all back in the cage. An hour later, in the living room, I hear a noise....... Squidgy and Sausage are running around!

Two ways. There is always one goo per pair that has more energy. I send him or her in for their brother of sister last resort, the sound of pecans shaking in my Hands does it all the time. That's not the best way. I then have to degus pulling at me trying to find the nuts. But everyone is awake and accounted for.
