It takes most of us quite a while to get a grip on all the aspects of degu keeping. Work you way through the beginner's guide and concentrate on the bits that seem most urgent or interesting to you and come back to the other things when you find the headspace. Try and relate it to your degus and your experiences. So, since you are finding one degu reluctant to eat pellets, you could think about food and trying another couple of different brands of pellets, maybe ordering in some different forages, maybe some seeds and natural treats like dandelion roots (you could most of that to start you off with a Zooplus order). Or you could grab a couple of small packets of forage (which would take the pressure of the not eating pellets) from PAH or The RAnge and stick to concentrating on playpen and safe interaction for now.
