Took these some days ago. Just wanted to share. Kits are so funny. First time I'm so consistent with variation in diet, and kits are the first to go trough the fresh greens I give. You won't believe the amount of food they go through lol. With ny small hands I can give about ½ handful of pellets for ever 1 adult animal. I think I'm on 3+ for parents + kits, and they are not even 8 weeks old yet. It's insane. And the amount of hay and greens they eat besides the pellets... They are seriously going to ruin me - haha Like the other day, someone came by. I had just provided extra food 1 hour before she came, and everything was GONE. Looked like I hadn't been giving them food for days lol.

So cool to hear about the diet and how the kits are responding to it. I found that anytime we had pups they ate us out of house and home. Sounds like they are all doing SO well! Great work, Darthchinchi!

4 lol. Not 3 She's doing well. Feels like she's getting back in shape. She might be pregnant again though. Not the best, but no worries. She's good. She's a homo pink white poss Ebony. Homo is a reference to the beige genes in her = homozygous so there's two beige genes. Pink White is when they contain both the beige gene and the Wilson White gene. Ebony is colour on the belly + its possible to breed them to become darker. As she is white, and the natural colour of the belly is white, it's hard to tell if there is indeed any Ebony in her or not. Technically she could contain the Velvet gene as well. Velvet is when the head and back is dark, sides are lighter and belly is grey. Again, with whites it can be hard to tell if they are indeed Velvet. When mixed in with the Ebony it's even harder to tell. Velvet + Velvet = lethal factor. This means embryos will not be viable and will get reabsorbed. Wilson White + Wilson White = lethal factor. In their heterozygous state (only one gene) these mutations are just as healthy as any other animal.
Funny thing, Ebony should be a dominant. It should be easy to spot (again not with the whites), but some say they may need a catalyst gene to show. So last male this female was with, was a violet, no ebony in him. They had beige kits, no sign of ebony. The male she's with now is a standard grey. He did have an ebony parent but doesn't look to have a "dirty belly" (this happens when the ebony is present but not showing well). All their kids are ebony... It makes me wonder if there is something to the catalyst gene theory. Chinchilla genetics is a mess lol

Kits have all gone but one. We got the runt back. Tried introducing her to the female I want her to go with. My old female wanted none of it. So now kit is in with mum and dad. She's really too old to be suckling, but I'm guessing she's trying to get back what she missed out on

One has left. One is leaving in a little over a week, and the two big boys are going in with an other male at that point. They have a wheel, and they use it (none of my other animals think weels are fun). It looks so odd when 3 animals try to run on the wheel at the same time
