QUESTION
What are the best exercise saucers? I was going to buy a tic tac wheel but I no longer have enough space for it. My goos like the saucer they have now but its plastic and doesn't suit the mostly natural theme in their home.

You have two options........ Get a large lazy susan, mount it on something at an angle, pop it in the cage and watch them run! Get one of THESE

After talking to my parents I think I'm going to make shelving rather then the half level extensions since they allow me to use the larger toys that I have. They will be easier to move and around than the full extensions which will allow me to have large wheels (12 inches+).

Good decision!
The only problem I have with flying saucers is that they move around a bit. This means they occasionally run into the sides of the cage. I tried to counteract this with the gerbils, supergluing it to the level, but the echos.........at night.........with the plastic shelves......

bouncy I feel your pain since my last wheel had a metal base which would keep hitting the metal base of my goos cage whenever they ran on it...

Mount the flying saucer to a piece of board, doesn't have to be very thick, but you cut the size of the board so that the board is bigger than the saucer, to keep it from running into the sides or other items in the cage. Position the saucer on it in the middle, so that it doesn't hang over an edge. That way, even if the whole assembly shifts within the cage, the board still stops the saucer from pushing up against anything.

Also, you can still add half-levels but keep high spaces to use the taller toys and things. Rather than connect the half-levels into full levels, just put the new half higher up, creating a shorter height half-level. They actually seem to like the tighter places for dens and hiding places, kind of like tunnels, and then you also have the taller areas for toys and features and places with more light. Just look at some of the pictures in here, I couldn't figure out how to link to specifics: deguworld.proboards.com/thread/15977/paradise-critter-nationAs for the wheel base idea, since we couldn't get any of the good wheels over here, our wheel was VERY bouncy, so it was really noisy and moved all over. That's how we came up with the base idea. And, to take it even further, our guys love to pee while running in the wheel, which makes that board pretty nasty pretty quickly in the corner of the cage. So, now we've switched to a piece of that plastic lumber board, so no more pee-soaked wood. There's enough other wood in the cage they don't seem to care about chewing it.

Good idea! The only thing that bothers me with their wheels is having to periodically clean off the trodden in pee. Lovely.

Looks great! Lucky goos! And so much wood to chew! They've already started to chew a decent amount of the splash guards. I woke up to a pile of shavings on the floor

UPDATE
The shelving is all drilled. All I need to do now is to wait for the winguts and dowels to be delivered then chew them in!
